OPTIK THEATRE

Known originally just as Optik (from the German for ‘optics’) the company started work in the 1980s with director Barry Edwards joined by artists including Heather Ackroyd, Cornelia Parker and Adrian Rawlins. With a mission to be special, to excite and to entertain Optik went on to tour its award-winning theatre to venues and arts spaces around the world. More recently the company has initiated a series of local performance projects in Richmond upon Thames including three productions specially created for the Borough’s WW1 Centenary programme. In the current project called The Script Room Optik Theatre has developed an exciting showcase for new theatre writing bringing over thirty new plays to Richmond and Whitton libraries.
